Former President Donald Trump announced a class action lawsuit against Facebook, Twitter and Google that is filed in the Southern District of Florida aimed at unlawful censorship of Americans.
Trump explained that this lawsuit will be filed in conjunction with the America First Policy Institute and will call for an immediate “end to shadow banning.” This suit will attack censorship and how it threatens the fundamental right to free speech and freedom of information.
Trump states that, ““Social media has given extraordinary power to a group of big tech giants that are working with government, the mainstream media, and a large segment of a political party, to silence and suppress the views of the American people.” Censorship is seen as an ultimate disservice to the American people and an attack on the Constitution of the United States.
Additionally, Former President Trump spoke on the censorship by media conglomerates regarding the truth behind the Chinese coronavirus. One Facebook policy required moderators to eliminate all posts that showed evidence of the virus emerging from China. The 2020 election cycle also showed the risk of censorship to Americans, as many pieces of content were removed that supported then President Trump.
