Despite using it herself, Elizabeth Warren is now claiming that the filibuster has ‘deep roots in racism.’
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren recently called the filibuster racist and said that it needs to be abolished.
Not surprisingly, her comments come at a time when a major Democrat-led voting rights bill, the “For the People Act,” is being brought before the Senate. Meanwhile, some Republican-controlled state legislatures are looking to pass their own voting rights laws, which Democrats claim will promote voter suppression.
“The filibuster has deep roots in racism, and it should not be permitted to serve that function or to create a veto for the minority,” Senator Warren told Axios. “In a democracy, it’s majority rules.”
Eliminating the legislative filibuster is not in the best interest of the country, no matter which party is in control.
Anyone who really understands the Senate knows that steamrolling the rules wouldn't fast-track policymaking. Everything would grind to a halt. https://t.co/S5a11JuTWN

Warren also posted a video to Twitter that explained the history of the filibuster, saying that the idea of it “made no sense.”
Ironically, Warren has a history of using the filibuster herself to block Republican legislation. The Daily Wire reported that Warren used the filibuster to block Tim Scott’s police reform legislation, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and billions of dollars in COVID-19 relief.
Now, hypocrite Senator Warren is speaking out against a long-standing political tradition that Democrats and Republicans have used since the birth of the United States. Once again, it’s clear that top Democrats are not ashamed of trying to gain total power.
