Republican senators have introduced legislation to stop the government from mandating COVID passports for citizens.
Three Republican senators recently introduced legislation to ban the federal government from establishing COVID passports related to a person’s immunization status.
The bill was introduced by Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Braun and Cynthia Lummis. Their legislation also doesn’t allow the federal government to work with third parties to develop immunization passports.
“Americans have a well-established right to privacy that any mandated” immunization passport “would destroy,” Senator Cruz said. He added that it “would be discriminatory against people who, for whatever reason, do not get” it.
.@tedcruz just introduced a bill to BAN the federal government from mandating vaccine passports. Even the Biden administration has said it doesn't support a mandate. This should NOT be controversial. pic.twitter.com/LbwViwhVga

Senator Braun also lauded the medical achievements developed under the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed. He said that he was “proud to stand with Senator Cruz” in protecting American’s rights.
Senator Lummis said that “the government should not be in the business of exposing Americans’ private health information. She added: “Our job should be to protect citizens’ privacy rights – that’s what the 4th Amendment of our Constitution is about.”
Every American citizen should be able to make decisions about their health without having to follow government mandates and face discrimination. Republican leaders are making efforts to preserve these freedoms. Leaders like Senators Cruz, Braun and Lummis who are fighting for the people deserve our support in return.
