The March for Life is an annual day of protest around the nation on January 22nd where people from all around the country show their support for the pro-life cause. Many come to D.C., and that’s exactly what happened this year when thousands marched. But for the first time ever, a sitting President attended the March for Life.
President Trump gave a speech on the National Mall delivering strong remarks to the thousands of attendees.
“Every life brings love into this world, every child brings joy to a family,” said Trump. “Every person is worth protecting and above all we know that every human soul is divine and every human life born and unborn is made in the holy image of almighty God.”
No Democrats attended the march, as President Trump made history being the first sitting president ever to attend. Past presidents have feared that attending the March would be making too bold of a statement. That’s exactly why Trump attended, to show he is fearlessly the most pro-life president in history.
What sets the March for Life apart from other annual protests is how much youth are involved. Thousands of high-schoolers and college students, but also women and families play a large part in the fight for the unborn. President Trump made sure to point them out during his speech.
“Young people are the heart of the March for Life and it’s your generation that’s making the pro-life, pro-family nation.” said President Trump. Pointing out the women and moms who attended, Trump said, “And to all the moms here today, we celebrate you and we declare that mothers are heroes!”
It should not be understated- having a sitting American president attend the biggest pro-life march in the country speaks volumes. It means that we’re not only fighting back in the horrible war against the unborn, but that the pro-life movement is growing. There is still so much more room for progress; donate to Americans United for Values if you want to make a difference in the pro-life movement!
