Democrats are pushing a bill to make Washington, D.C. a state, giving them yet another vote in Congress.
The House of Representatives approved a bill on Thursday that would make Washington, D.C., the 51st state.
H.R. 51 will now be sent to the Senate. Currently, D.C. has three electoral votes, but its House delegate isn’t allowed to vote on legislation. The current delegate, Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, who also introduced this bill, is a Democrat.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed that “With H.R 51, Congress is taking a significant step to enfranchise the people of D.C. and empower them to participate fully in our democracy.”
House Democrats falsely & hypocritically claim Republican opposition to DC Statehood is about race?
Then why did @LeaderHoyer once vote against DC Statehood himself?
The hypocrisy runs deep… pic.twitter.com/C7PYv9m6Jc

The bill had been passed in the House last year, but the then Republican-controlled Senate blocked it.
“It’s the second time the House has approved such legislation in two years, but the statehood bill, long a goal for the nation’s capital, faces an uphill climb in a Senate evenly divided between the two parties,” The Hill reported. “Winning a vote in the Senate would likely require ending the filibuster that requires most legislation to clear a 60-vote hurdle. Even then, not all 50 Democrats in the Senate back making D.C. a state.”
Since taking control of the presidency and the Senate, Democrats have been on a relentless campaign to gain even more power. By making Washington, D.C. a state, all they’re really doing is making sure they’ll have more votes for future left-wing legislation.
We must stop Democrats from packing the Supreme Court, turning D.C. into a state and passing other power-grabbing legislation. Otherwise, conservatives will start to disappear from politics, which is exactly what the Democrats want.
