Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) began a judiciary subcommittee hearing by swearing in three witnesses, yet failed to include a basic portion of the oath – the last line, “So Help Me God.”
This intentional omittance is an attack on Christians throughout the nation, our Constitution, and our founding principles. Democrats continue their war on religion, but fortunately for patriotic Americans everywhere, we have representatives willing to stand up for injustices like these.
Another Congressman on the subcommittee, Mike Johnson (R-LA) challenged the chair saying, “I think we left out the phrase, So Help Me God” and after a tense back and forth told the committee – “it goes back to our founding history, it’s been part of our history for more than two centuries and I don’t know that we should abandon it now.”
The Chair denied the request and continued the hearing.
After several Republican members of the House were rightfully angered by the interaction on the subcommittee, Rep. Liz Cheney told Fox: “It is incredible, but not surprising, that the Democrats would try to remove God from committee proceedings in one of their first acts in the majority.”
Americans United for Values thanks Rep. Johnson for standing up for the wrongdoings by our elected members across the aisle. It’s unacceptable for House Democrats to push their secular agenda on a traditional part of our system of law.
Don’t let the Democrats get away with removing God from our Nation’s founding – sign up for Americans United for Values updates to help us fight the anti-religion agenda of the left.
