Governor Ron DeSantis announced that his office will be giving bonuses to first responders and law enforcement officials in Florida.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced this week that his administration is giving $1,000 bonuses to Florida’s first responders, including law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMTs and firefighters.
Bonuses will be given to all of the state’s first responders, about 174,000 people. According to DeSantis’ office, the governor first made the call for the bonuses in March. They will apparently be included in the 2021-22 state budget.
“Supporting our law enforcement and first responders has been a top priority for my administration, and it has never been more important than over the last year. As a state, we are grateful for their continued service to our communities,” DeSantis said.
Some want to defund the police.
In Florida, we’re funding them & then some by providing all of our heroes $1,000 bonuses. This represents more than 174,000 first responders across the state!

DeSantis’ decision comes after far-left Democrats have called for defunding – and even abolishing – the police over the past year. Along with fellow Republican governors and leaders, he has taken several steps over the past years to combat the radical left. Supporting first responders and “defending the police” is just the latest example.
As Americans, we should follow DeSantis’ lead and continue to support first responders and law enforcement despite the hatred they have received from leftists. The safety and security of our local communities depend upon them.
