Gov. Greg Abbott; transgender surgery children

Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services declared transgender surgery on children a form of child abuse.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared this week that allowing children to undergo transgender surgery is child abuse.

The governor’s declaration comes soon after the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services found that performing or forcing gender reassignment surgery on children “is child abuse, subject to all rules and procedures pertaining to child abuse.”

“This surgical procedure physically alters a child’s genitalia for non-medical purposes potentially inflicting irreversible harm to children’s bodies,” reads a letter from DFPS Commissioner Jaime Masters. “Generally, children in the care and custody of a parent lack the legal capacity to consent to surgical treatments, making them more vulnerable.”

Go. Abbott then stated in an announcement: “The determination and subsequent enforcement of Commissioner Masters’ conclusions are effective immediately.”

In Texas, professionals—including teachers, doctors and daycare workers—are required by law to report suspected incidences of child abuse to the state “within 48-hours after the professional first suspects the abuse.”

More leaders need to call out and fight against the growing trend of normalizing transgender surgery for children. Progressive ideology is putting our children in danger, particularly when it comes to transgenderism. As Gov. Abbott and others have pointed out, the idea itself is nothing more than child abuse.
