Facebook will remove one of its policies that helped protect the free speech of politicians, both conservative and liberal.

Facebook announced that they will be abolishing their “special” protections for politicians, threatening the free speech of conservative leaders.

Previously, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg argued for free expression, and the platform protected the speech of right- and left-wing politicians.

“We don’t believe…that it’s an appropriate role for us to referee political debates and prevent a politician’s speech from reaching its audience and being subject to public debate and scrutiny,” Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, said in 2019. “That’s why Facebook exempts politicians from our third-party fact-checking program.”

“We will treat speech from politicians as newsworthy content that should, as a general rule, be seen and heard.”

Facebook might also announce that politicians “will for the first time be opened up to enforcement against more rules for things like bullying that Facebook’s moderators apply to other users,” according to The Verge.

Meanwhile, Trump is still banned from both Facebook and Instagram after Facebook’s Oversight Board upheld his suspension.

The reign of leftist Big Tech is continuing to tighten its grip. Apparently, leaders are caving more and more to the demands of progressives. As social media platforms like Facebook that have a large reach allow conservatives to be censored, the First Amendment will be threatened.

We cannot allow Big Tech companies to determine what political news we receive. Our most fundamental right as Americans is under attack and we shouldn’t be afraid to push back.
