Biden’s policy will allow transgender individuals to enlist in the U.S. military and have their gender transitions funded by taxpayers.

President Biden’s new policy will allow individuals who identify as transgender, and those who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, to serve in the U.S. military.

The policy also allows such individuals to have their gender transitions paid for by American taxpayers.

Before 2016, transgender individuals were generally barred from enlisting. The Obama administration changed the existing policy to allow transgender persons to serve, including those with gender dysphoria.

Defense Secretary James Mattis then modified the policy to prohibit individuals from serving if they were suffering from the condition of gender dysphoria, or had a recent history of suffering from it. But everyone else who was qualified could still serve.

The left attacked Mattis’s actions, despite the fact that the decision came after extensive study.

A 2019 report revealed that “individuals with gender dysphoria experience severe anxiety – between eight and nine times the rate of individuals without gender dysphoria.” It doesn’t take an expert to figure out that this can have a hugely detrimental effect on how military members perform and interact in defense of our country.

Biden’s new policy is the latest example of Democrats pushing progressivism without thinking of the consequence. All progressive ideology aside, this policy is reckless and could have terrible consequences for the men and women serving in the U.S. military.
