Protests against communist Cuba this weekend have apparently gone unrecognized by far-left Democrats in the U.S.
Far-left U.S. Democrats didn’t have much to say after protests erupted in Cuba demanding freedom from its communist government.
Senator Bernie Sanders, who in the past has praised some of Fidel Castro’s communist policies in Cuba, did not weigh in on the country’s recent pro-freedom movement. Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has also not offered any input on the protests.
In addition, Biden administration officials have insultingly claimed that the protests are simply because of “concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages” in Cuba.
Meanwhile, notable conservative leaders have voiced their support for those seeking freedom from the communist Cuban regime.
“Florida supports the people of Cuba as they take to the streets against the tyrannical regime in Havana,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on Twitter. “The Cuban dictatorship has repressed the people of Cuba for decades & is now trying to silence those who have the courage to speak out against its disastrous policies.”
Senator Marco Rubio also urged President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to “call on members of the Cuban military to not fire on their own people.”
“The incompetent communist party of #Cuba cannot feed or protect the people from the virus. Now those in the military must defend the people not the communist party,” Sen. Rubio tweeted.

The Communist Cuban regime will be consigned to the dustbin of history. It has brutalized & denied freedom to generations of Cubans, and forced my family & so many others to flee.
The American people stand squarely with the men & women of Cuba and their noble fight for liberty. https://t.co/09hdGQVJLh

Cubans are fighting for freedom. The regime is calling it an insurrection, holding people without trial. Fortunately that could never happen here. 🇺🇸

All Americans, regardless of party, should be quick to support the Cuban people in their fight against an oppressive government. Their demands for freedom should not go unheard in a country that has always stood for freedom, even in the face of tyrannical dictators and repressive communist regimes.
