Colorado Representative Ken Buck’s BRICKS Act aims to increase penalties for violent and destructive far-left rioters.
A Colorado representative introduced legislation this week that would increase penalties and jail time for persons who incite, organize, fund, aid or abet rioting.
U.S. Representative Ken Buck’s Blocking Rioters and Insurrectionists from our Cities to Keep us Safe (BRICKS) Act aims to increase penalties from 5 to 10 years. If a person suffers bodily injury, then the rioter could serve up to 25 years. In addition, if an individual uses a weapon, explosive, or fire when violating the law they could face a sentence of up to 25 years.
“This year, we’ve seen an unprecedented amount of violence from riots organized by Antifa and other radical leftist groups,” Representative Buck said. “It’s time to take action against anarchist groups that have wreaked havoc across the country and the BRICKS Act does just that.”

The legislation further proposes life in prison if the individual committed kidnapping, aggravated sexual abuse, attempted sexual abuse or attempted homicide during the riot.
“In order to truly restore unity in this country, Congress must support efforts like this to stop the violence perpetrated by the far left,” Buck added. “We need to restore the livelihoods of our communities and hold these criminals accountable for their large-scale destruction once and for all.”
Radical groups like Antifa have rioted and destroyed our cities for months following the death of George Floyd, and their violent history extends well beyond that. But now, we have the power to hold rioters accountable and restore peace in our communities.
Congressmen like Representative Buck are leading the charge against violent leftist rioters. We must support him and other leaders who are fighting for the safety of all Americans. Our values and way of life are at risk if we allow riots to continue without consequence.
