The March for Life is the Nation’s largest and most impactful Pro-Life event, hosted each year in Washington, D.C. The President of the March for Life movement, Jeanne Mancini, told Meet the Press that the goal of the march is to “create a culture where abortion is unthinkable.”

For 45 years, tens of thousands of Americans have gathered on the National Mall to advance the anti-abortion agenda and show lawmakers, the media, and Americans across the country that the pro-life movement is present and strong. A key highlight of the March for Life every year is that it seeks to include pro-life Democrats as well. A Democrat is typically invited to speak at the rally, and the event prides itself on being inclusive of all political thoughts that support pro-life values.

In 2017, Vice President Mike Pence addressed the March for Life in person stating: “This Administration will work with Congress to end taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion providers, and we will devote those resources to healthcare services for women across America.”

Last year, President Trump and Vice President Pence addressed the March on a live stream from the White House Rose Garden. It is unannounced who from the Administration may be speaking at this year’s event, but confirmed speakers include: Dr. Alveda King, Ben Shapiro, and Abby Johnson – a former Planned Parenthood employee.

Abortion has been called the ‘moral issue of our time’ – it’s more important than ever to have our voices heard. Abortion was the number one cause of death worldwide in 2018 with more than 41 million children killed before birth around the world. Since 1973, 58 million Americans were killed in abortion procedures. These are huge numbers that just continue to climb, so our efforts to defund abortion providers, pass anti-abortion legislation, and increase awareness of the pro-life movement are crucial to making a difference in the world today.
