Joe Biden; Republicans elections bill

Republicans successfully blocked debate on the Democrats’ deceptive elections bill, prompting backlash from President Biden.

President Biden accused Republicans of supporting “a Jim Crow era in the 21st Century” after GOP senators blocked debate on Democrats’ elections bill.

Biden and other Democrats have pushed the “For The People Act” for months in response to the passage of election security overhauls in Republican-led states, such as Georgia.

“Today, Democrats in Congress unanimously came together to protect the sacred right to vote. In supporting the For the People Act and defending the rights of voters, they stood united for democracy,” Biden claimed. “They stood against the ongoing assault of voter suppression that represents a Jim Crow era in the 21st Century.

“Unfortunately, a Democratic stand to protect our democracy met a solid Republican wall of opposition. Senate Republicans opposed even a debate—even considering—legislation to protect the right to vote and our democracy. It was the suppression of a bill to end voter suppression—another attack on voting rights that is sadly not unprecedented,” he added.

If passed, the Biden-backed elections bill would put nonpartisan commissions in charge of gerrymandering rather than party-controlled state legislatures, extend early and absentee voting, and overhaul the campaign finance system, according to Fox News.

The elections bill is yet another example of Democrats making a ploy to keep their own party in power under the guise of progressivism. They’ve claimed that Republicans’ election security legislation will “discriminate” against minorities and impoverished communities and that the “For The People Act” will make voting fair. But really, the bill will only open elections to more fraud and ensure that Democrats never leave office.

Ted Cruz also called out the left’s hypocrisy after their attempt to pass the bill this week.

“Well, the majority leader used the phrase Jim Crow 2.0 and inadvertently he’s right, but not about what he’s describing,” Senator Cruz said. “He’s right about the ‘Corrupt Politicians Act.’ The ‘Corrupt Politicians Act’ follows the exact same pattern that Jim Crow did. It is partisan legislation written by elected Democrats, designed to keep elected Democrats in office and to steal the right to vote from the citizenry to decide on somebody else.”
