The West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas was well into their service Sunday when a hooded man came in and pointed his firearm at the more than 200 parishioners in attendance. The perpetrator’s life lasted just seconds into the shooting though, as an armed security guard who was inside shot and took down the perpetrator.

They say “Don’t Mess With Texas” for a reason: firearms instructor, security guard, candidate for commissioners, and man of faith Jack Wilson wasted no time taking out the shooter. On top of his bravery and what was surely a moment of panic for everyone at West Freeway Church of Christ, Wilson finished the gunman off in just one shot.

Wilson saved countless other lives. The perpetrator was just feet away from many other innocent parishioners, but Wilson wasn’t the only patriot ready to stop the shooter. Several other armed parishioners had their handguns ready to stop the shooting.

“We lost two great men today, but it could’ve been a lot worse.” said the church’s senior minister, Britt Farmer. “I am thankful our government has allowed us the opportunity to protect ourselves.”

Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, two left-wing politicians who are quick to call for gun control after every major shooting, were relatively quiet regarding the Texas shooting. That’s because this incident didn’t fit their narrative; it was a good guy with a gun who stopped a bad guy with a gun. Instead, the majority of their tweets since were about climate change and how millionaires are evil.

Democrats are so out of touch with the American people. It’s sad when prominent liberal politicians spend more time talking about the temperature outside than the real issues the American people are facing.
